Who We Are
We are daters in our late 20s navigating the most competitive dating market in the world, New York City. We have personally experienced the pain and anger that comes with having a bad Hinge profile.
At the start of our Hinge journey, we would only get around one match a week. Even worse, when we went to our Hinge Discover page the options shown were so monstrous that it made us look in the mirror and question if we actually looked like Shrek.
Through years of trial and error with photos and prompts we are now able to go on 20+ Hinge matches a week. Most importantly, the monsters have left our Discover page for good!
The Hinge Dating Scene
It’s undeniable that online dating has completely taken over the dating scene. It is estimated that 1 in 3 Americans have used dating apps before. That jumps to 1 in 2 when we only consider people who haven’t been married before!
Meanwhile, through our experiences we’ve found that Hinge is by far the best dating app for the Gen Z and Millennial age groups. The average age on Hinge is 25 years old and 90% of users are between 23 and 36. And yet…
What We Learned
Most men have Hinge profiles that underperform their attractiveness and undersell their desirable traits. We’ve found that just having someone else look at your profile can make a world of a difference!
We are bad judges of our own profiles! There are a variety of self delusions that come into play when we pick our own photos. We inflate the importance of our unimportant features and don’t understand what our photos look like to others.
We say this with such certainty because we have done it ourselves over and over again! This has occurred to us so many times that now we don’t even update our Hinge profiles without checking with someone else first.
Why We Built This
We built this because this is the service we would’ve wanted for ourselves at the beginning of our journey with Hinge.
It was exhausting for us to constantly ask our friends to rank our pictures. It was degrading for us to bring up our Hinge profiles at the bar and have strangers roast us. And it was inconceivable for us to post them to a public forum like Reddit.
We wanted a simple and inexpensive service that ranked our photos and got us better matches. We never found one, so instead we made one ourselves.
